Uttar Pradesh, known as India’s largest state, is divided into a total of 75 districts, holding the record for having the most districts in the country. Each district is governed by a District Magistrate, a position held by officers of the Indian Administrative Service (IAS). The state’s districts have been strategically organized into 18 administrative divisions, facilitating improved governance and administration.
Uttar Pradesh consistently upholds its status as India’s most densely populated state. Highlighting its commitment to effective governance and representation, the then-Chief Minister, Mayawati, introduced the creation of three additional districts in 2011. These new districts, namely Prabuddhanagar, Panchsheel Nagar, and Bhimnagar, serve as a testament to the state’s adaptability and responsiveness to evolving administrative needs.
