It has been revised and&nbsp;<strong>approved by the Cabinet during August 2022.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Revised INDC<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>India at the&nbsp;<strong>26th &nbsp;session of the Conference of the Parties (COP26)<\/strong>&nbsp;to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change&nbsp;<strong>(UNFCCC) held in Glasgow,<\/strong>&nbsp;United Kingdom during November 2021, expressed to intensify its climate action by presenting to the world&nbsp;<strong>five nectar elements (Panchamrit) of India\u2019s climate action<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This update to India\u2019s existing NDC translates the&nbsp;<strong>\u2018Panchamrit\u2019 announced at COP 26<\/strong>&nbsp;into enhanced climate targets. The update is also a step towards&nbsp;<strong>achieving India\u2019s long term goal of reaching net-zero by 2070.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>As per the updated NDC,\u00a0<strong>India now stands committed to<\/strong>\u00a0\u2013\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>reduce&nbsp;<strong>Emissions Intensity of its GDP by 45 percent by 2030<\/strong>, from 2005 level and<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>achieve about&nbsp;<strong>50 percent cumulative electric power installed capacity from non-fossil fuel-based energy<\/strong>&nbsp;resources&nbsp;<strong>by 2030<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>To create an&nbsp;<strong>additional carbon sink of 2.5 to 3 billion tonnes of CO<sub>2<\/sub><\/strong>&nbsp;equivalent through additional forest and tree cover&nbsp;<strong>by 2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The updated NDC also represents the framework for India\u2019s transition to&nbsp;<strong>cleaner energy for the period 2021-2030.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The updated NDC reads \u201cTo put forward and further propagate a&nbsp;<strong>healthy and sustainable way of living&nbsp;<\/strong>based on traditions and values of conservation and moderation, including through a mass movement for&nbsp;<strong>\u2018LIFE\u2019\u2013 \u2018Lifestyle for Environment\u2019<\/strong>&nbsp;as a key to combating climate change\u201d.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India\u2019s updated NDC has been prepared after carefully considering our national circumstances and the principle of&nbsp;<strong>common but differentiated
