It is spread for 145 km2&nbsp;and&nbsp;<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/bhitarkanika-national-park-upsc\/\">Bhitarkanika<\/a>&nbsp;is the second-largest Mangrove ecosystem of India<\/strong>.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>It is the breeding place for the endangered saltwater crocodiles,<\/strong>&nbsp;which are the prime attractions of the sanctuary.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/important-lakes-of-india-upsc\/\">Pulicat Lake<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Pulicat Lake&nbsp;is the&nbsp;<strong>second largest brackish water lagoon in India, (after Chilika Lake)<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Major part of the lagoon comes under Tirupati district of Andhra Pradesh<\/strong>. It is present in the Coromondal Region i.e. Andhra Pradesh\u2013Tamil Nadu Border.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The barrier island of Sriharikota separates the lake from the Bay of Bengal and is home to the Satish Dhawan Space Centre.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The lake encompasses the&nbsp;<strong>Pulicat Lake Bird Sanctuary<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Flamingo Festival is held every year<\/strong>&nbsp;to promote tourism in Pulicatlake and Nellapattu.
