      • Ramsar Convention<\/strong> was signed in 1971<\/strong> in the Iranian city of Ramsar<\/strong> and is one of the oldest inter-governmental accord<\/strong> for preserving the ecological character of wetlands<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
      • Article 4 of the Ramsar Convention <\/strong>states that \u201cEach Contracting Party shall promote the conservation of wetlands and waterfowl<\/strong> by establishing nature reserves on wetlands<\/strong>, whether they are included in the List or not, and provide adequately for their wandering.\u201d It is not mandatory on the part of the Government of India to protect and conserve all the wetlands in the territory of India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n
