However,<strong>\u00a0it was composed entirely of British members<\/strong>, which was seen as a deliberate insult and a disregard for the aspirations of the Indian people.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Indian National Congress and other political organizations\u00a0<strong>boycotted the commission<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>launched protests and demonstrations<\/strong>\u00a0against its arrival.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The widespread opposition to the commission led to the popular slogan,\u00a0<strong>\u201cSimon Go Back\u201d<\/strong>.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>The Government of India Act 1919 made a provision for a review committee on its work after 10 years.<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>However, the conservative government was staring at defeat and it felt that this constitutional question couldn\u2019t be left in the hands of an inexperienced labour party.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Thus the Indian statutory commission popularly known as the Simon Commission was appointed in 1927.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, as no Indian was on the committee it was met with\u00a0<strong>boycott unanimously throughout India by all parties<\/strong>.
