historic<strong>\u00a0\u2018Purna Swaraj\u2019 \u2013 (total independence)<\/strong>\u00a0resolution \u2013 at its Lahore session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>A public declaration was made on 26 January 1930 \u2013 a day which the Congress Party urged Indians to celebrate as \u2018<strong>Independence Day<\/strong>\u2019.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The declaration was passed due to the breakdown of negotiations between leaders of the freedom movement and the British over the question of dominion status for India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Lahore Congress Session 1929<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Jawaharlal Nehru was chosen as the President\u00a0<\/strong>due to following reasons:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Because of the timing (Congress\u2019
