Rai<\/strong>\u00a0was\u00a0an Indian revolutionary, politician, and author, popularly known as\u00a0<strong>Punjab Kesari (Lion of Punjab)<\/strong>, he was a prolific writer and authored\u00a0<strong>several works<\/strong>\u00a0like \u2013\u00a0<strong>\u201cUnhappy India\u201d, \u201cYoung India: An Interpretation\u201d, \u201cHistory of Arya Samaj\u201d, \u201cEngland\u2019s Debt to India\u201d<\/strong>\u00a0and a series of popular biographies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His\u00a0<strong>biographies of Mazzini, Garibaldi, and Shivaji\u00a0<\/strong>were<strong>\u00a0published in 1896<\/strong>\u00a0and those of\u00a0<strong>Dayanand and Shri Krishna in 1898<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>His purpose in selecting Mazzini and Garibaldi was\u00a0<strong>to infuse patriotic sentiment in the youth of Punjab<\/strong>, who had no access to books in English.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He wanted his countrymen to become acquainted with the teachings of Italian leaders who had so impressed his own mind.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He\u00a0<strong>traveled to the US in 1907<\/strong>\u00a0and noted sociological similarities between the notion of \u2018<strong>color-caste<\/strong>\u2018 there and within castes in India.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He\u00a0<strong>joined the Swaraj Party in 1926<\/strong>\u00a0and was\u00a0<strong>elected as its Deputy Leader<\/strong>\u00a0in the Central Legislative Assembly.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>He later\u00a0<strong>resigned from the Swaraj Party in August
