It is\u00a0<strong>maximum at the poles and is absent at the equator.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Coriolis force\u00a0<strong>acts perpendicular to the pressure gradient force<\/strong>. The pressure gradient force is perpendicular to an isobar. The\u00a0<strong>higher the pressure gradient force, the more is the velocity of the wind and the larger is the deflection in the direction of wind<\/strong>. As a result of these two forces operating perpendicular to each other, in the low-pressure areas the wind blows around it.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>At the equator, the Coriolis force is zero and the wind blows perpendicular to the isobars<\/strong>. The low pressure gets filled instead of getting intensified. That is the reason why\u00a0<strong>tropical cyclones are not formed near the equator.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"coriolis-force-and-wind-movement\">Coriolis Force and Wind Movement<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Due to the earth\u2019s rotation,\u00a0<strong>winds do not cross the isobars at right angles as the pressure gradient force directs<\/strong>,<strong>\u00a0but get deflected from their original path<\/strong>.
