They can be differentiated on the basis of their work, their membership and the length of their tenure.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, broadly there are<strong>\u00a0two types of Parliamentary Committees<\/strong>\u2013 Standing Committees and Ad Hoc Committees.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Standing Committees<\/strong>\u00a0are permanent (constituted every year or periodically) and work on a continuous basis.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Standing Committees can be classified into the following six categories:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Financial Committees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Departmental Standing Committees<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committees to Enquire<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committees to Scrutinise and Control<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Committees Relating to the Day-to-Day Business of the House<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>House-Keeping Committees or Service Committees<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>While the\u00a0<strong>Ad Hoc Committees<\/strong>\u00a0are temporary and cease to exist on completion of the task assigned to them.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>They are further subdivided into Inquiry Committees and Advisory Committees.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The principal Ad hoc Committees are the Select and Joint Committees on Bills.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"the-estimates-committee\">The Estimates Committee<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Estimates Committee\u00a0is the\u00a0<strong>largest Committee of the Parliament.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has a total of\u00a0<strong>30 members<\/strong>\u00a0and\u00a0<strong>all are from the Lok Sabha<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Rajya Sabha has no representation in this committee.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The function of the estimates committee is to make\u00a0<strong>scrutiny of\u00a0the functioning of government ministries and departments<\/strong>\u00a0regarding the\u00a0expenditure and utilisation of funds.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Other committees:<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Public Accounts\u00a0Committee<\/strong>\u00a0consists of<strong>\u00a022 members\u00a0<\/strong>out of which\u00a0<strong>15 members are elected by Lok Sabha\u00a0<\/strong>and\u00a0<strong>7 Members of the Rajya Sabha<\/strong>\u00a0are associated with it.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Committee on Public Undertakings<\/strong>\u00a0consists\u00a0<strong>of not more than 22 Members<\/strong>\u00a0out of which\u00a0<strong>15 are elected by the Lok Sabha and 7\u00a0by the Rajya Sabha<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Committee on Petitions<\/strong>\u00a0consists\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>10
