The CJI is only the first among equals.\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hence, the CJI too, like other judges of the SC and HCs, can be impeached on this ground.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Impeachment procedure<\/strong>:<\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>Judges (Inquiry) Act, 1968<\/strong>\u00a0contains details of the process.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>motion<\/strong>\u00a0is to be signed by 50 members of Rajya Sabha or 100 members of Lok Sabha.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If it is admitted, an\u00a0<strong>inquiry committee<\/strong>\u00a0will probe the charges.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will consist of an\u00a0<strong>SC judge, a Chief Justice of an HC and a distinguished jurist.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>If the charges stand proven, the motion is to be presented to each House of Parliament.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It has to be passed by a\u00a0<strong>majority<\/strong>\u00a0of the House\u00a0<strong>and 2\/3rds<\/strong>\u00a0of those\u00a0<strong>present and voting<\/strong>\u00a0in the same session.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Even if the charges are proved, the Parliament is not bound to remove the judge.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Finally, the\u00a0<strong>President<\/strong>\u00a0will issue the\u00a0<strong>order removing the judge.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Judge\u2019s Right \u2013\u00a0<\/strong>The particular Judge has the right to be heard.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>However, this is not available at the time of admission of the motion.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>During the inquiry, the judge has the full right to defend.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Which of the statements given above is\/are correct?
