class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>The Union Ministry of Tribal Affairs (MoTA)\u00a0<\/strong>is the nodal agency for the implementation of the Scheduled Tribes and Other Traditional Forest Dwellers (Recognition\u00a0Of\u00a0Forest Rights) Act, 2006.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The ministry deals with\u00a0<strong>forest and livelihood objectives<\/strong>\u00a0at the national level.\u00a0<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"forest-rights-act-2006\">Forest Rights Act, 2006<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>It deals with the\u00a0rights of the communities\u00a0that dwell in the forests (including\u00a0Scheduled Tribes), over land and other resources,\u00a0<strong>which have been\u00a0denied to them over the years\u00a0because of the continuation of forest laws from the colonial era<\/strong>\u00a0in the country.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Act recognizes and vests the\u00a0<strong>forest rights and occupation in Forest land<\/strong>\u00a0in\u00a0<strong>Forest Dwelling Scheduled Tribes<\/strong>\u00a0(FDST) and\u00a0<strong>Other Traditional Forest Dwellers<\/strong>\u00a0(OTFD) who have been residing in such forests for generations.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Forest rights can also be claimed by any member or community who has<strong>\u00a0for at least three generations (75 years) prior to the 13th day of December, 2005 primarily resided in fores<\/strong>t land for bona fide livelihood needs.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It strengthens the\u00a0<strong>conservation regime<\/strong>\u00a0of the forests while ensuring livelihood and food security of the FDST and OTFD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The<strong>\u00a0Gram Sabha<\/strong>\u00a0is the authority to initiate the process for determining the nature and extent of\u00a0<strong>Individual Forest Rights<\/strong>\u00a0(IFR) or\u00a0<strong>Community Forest Rights<\/strong>\u00a0(CFR) or both that may be given to FDST and OTFD.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Act identifies<strong>\u00a0four types of rights:<\/strong>\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Title rights:<\/strong>\u00a0It gives FDST and OTFD the\u00a0<strong>right to ownership<\/strong>\u00a0to land farmed by tribals or forest dwellers subject to a maximum of<strong>\u00a04 hectares.<\/strong>\u00a0Ownership is only for land that is actually being cultivated by the concerned family and no new lands will be granted.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Use rights<\/strong>: The rights of the dwellers extend to<strong>\u00a0extracting\u00a0Minor Forest Produce, grazing areas etc.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Relief and development rights:<\/strong>\u00a0To\u00a0<strong>rehabilitate<\/strong>\u00a0in case of illegal eviction or forced displacement and to basic amenities, subject to restrictions for forest protection.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Forest management rights:<\/strong>\u00a0It includes the right to\u00a0<strong>protect, regenerate<\/strong>\u00a0<strong>or conserve<\/strong>\u00a0or manage any community forest resource which they have been traditionally protecting and conserving for sustainable
