His son and successor Vinayaditya is first referred to in a record of\u00a0<strong>1047 A.D.<\/strong><\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"gahadwala\">Gahadwala<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>With the\u00a0<strong>break-up of the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/gurjara-pratihara-dynasty-upsc\/\">Pratihara empire<\/a><\/strong>, a number of\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/the-rajputs-upsc\/\">Rajput states<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0came into existence in north India.\u00a0<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The most important of<strong>\u00a0these were the Gahadavalas of Kanauj,\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<strong>Paramaras of Malwa<\/strong>, and the\u00a0<strong>Chauhans of Ajmer<\/strong>. There were other smaller dynasties in different parts of the country, such as the\u00a0<strong>Kalachuris<\/strong>\u00a0in the area around modern Jabalpur, the Chandellas in Bundelkhand, the\u00a0<strong>Chalukyas of Gujarat<\/strong>, the\u00a0<strong>Tomars of Delhi<\/strong>, etc Bengal remained under the control of the Palas and, later, under the Senas. The Gahadavalas of Kanauj gradually squeezed the Palas out of Bihar.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Chandradeva (1089\u20131103 CE), also known as Chandraditya<\/strong>, was an Indian king from the Gahadavala dynasty. He ruled the Antarvedi country in present-day Uttar Pradesh, including\u00a0<strong>Kanyakubja and Varanasi.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>At its height, the Gahadval kingdom extended from Mongyr in Bihar to Delhi. The greatest ruler in the dynasty was\u00a0<strong>Govind Chandra<\/strong>\u00a0who ruled in the first half of the twelfth century. He made\u00a0<strong>Kanauj\u00a0<\/strong>his capital, with Banaras remaining a second capital. Persian sources of the time call Govind Chandra the greatest ruler of Hindustan.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Gahadvars are reputed to be the biggest defenders against the continued\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/mahmud-of-ghazni-or-mahmud-ghaznavi\/\">Ghaznavid<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0raids into the doab. Govind Chandra was succeeded by Jai Chandra who had to contend with the rising power of the Chauhans.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"kakatiya\">Kakatiya<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The\u00a0<strong>sub-feudatories of the Rashtrakutas emerged themselves as independent kings and founded the\u00a0<a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/kakatiya-dynasty-upsc\/\">Kakatiya dynasty<\/a>\u00a0around 950 AD\u00a0<\/strong>and this kingdom became a strong and united whole of Telugu-speaking lands and lasted for more than three centuries and a half.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The kingdom saw powerful kings like Ganapatideva, Rudradeva and Prataparudra as well as the first-ever woman ruler in the subcontinent, Rudramadevi.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Kakatiyas ruled from\u00a0<strong>Hanumakonda<\/strong>\u00a0in the beginning and shifted their capital to Warangal later.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<h5 class=\"wp-block-heading\" id=\"yadava\">Yadava<\/h5>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>In the last quarter of the\u00a0<strong>12th century AD\u00a0<\/strong>the\u00a0<strong><a href=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/yadava-dynasty-upsc\/\">Yadavas<\/a><\/strong>\u00a0of\u00a0<strong>Devagiri\u00a0<\/strong>came into prominence.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>They had previously been ruling over\u00a0<strong>Seunadesha (Khandesh)<\/strong>\u00a0as feudatories of the Chalukyas of Kalyani.
