Industrial Employment (Standing Orders) Central Rules, 1946.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Highlights of the rules<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>A&nbsp;<strong>fixed term employment workman is engaged on the basis of a written contract of employment for a fixed period<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The&nbsp;<strong>existing permanent workmen<\/strong>&nbsp;as on March 16, 2018&nbsp;<strong>cannot be converted as fixed term employment thereafter<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>March 16 is the date of commencement of the amended rules.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The notified rules provide for&nbsp;<strong>equal work hours, wages, allowances and other benefits<\/strong>&nbsp;as that of a permanent workman.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>These are along with all statutory benefits available to a permanent workman proportionately according to the period of service.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This&nbsp;<strong>will be available even if the period of employment does not extend to the qualifying period of employment<\/strong>&nbsp;required in the statute.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Fixed-term employees whose services are terminated on non-renewal of contract or on its expiry is not entitled to any notice or pay in lieu<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>No notice of termination of employment shall be necessary in the case of temporary workman.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>This is whether it is monthly rated, weekly rated or piece rated and probationers or badli workmen (appointed in the position of permanent workmen or temporarily absent probationers).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Expected benefits<\/strong>:\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Cabinet had earlier approved fixed-term employment for specific sectors.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Fixed-term employment for all sectors now will make it easier for companies to hire-and-fire workers.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will also reduce the role of middlemen and allow companies to hire workers based on seasonal trends.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The industries will be empowered to employ people for a fixed duration for which they have orders or assignments.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>There will be no burden of carrying extra labour force during the lean season.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The move is further expected to promote \u2018ease of doing
