Why does the Government of India promote the use of \u2018Neem-coated Urea\u2019 in agriculture?"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"mcq wp-block-list\">\n<li>Release of Neem oil in the soil increases nitrogen fixation by the soil microorganisms<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Neem coating slows down the rate of dissolution of urea in the soil<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Nitrous oxide, which is a greenhouse gas, is not at all released into atmosphere by crop fields<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It is a combination of a weedicide and a fertilizer for particular crops<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Answer: (b) Neem coating slows down the rate of dissolution of urea in the soil<\/strong><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Notes:<\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Urea which is necessary for the development of plants is&nbsp;an important supplier of nitrogen.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>But only&nbsp;<strong>30-40 per cent of nitrogen present in the area is utilized by crops<\/strong>&nbsp;and the rest gets degraded in various stages.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>When ordinary urea is applied, it gets converted to&nbsp;<strong>ammonium carbamate<\/strong>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Some of this gets converted to ammonia gas in what is called&nbsp;<strong>ammonia volatilisation.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>About<strong>&nbsp;8-10 per cent&nbsp;<\/strong>of nitrogen is lost during volatilisation.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>Neem has properties that check nitrogen loss at each stage.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It&nbsp;<strong>slows down the process of nitrate formation<\/strong>&nbsp;and hence excess nitrate is not available for denitrification.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Neem-coated-Urea.png\" alt=\"Neem-coated Urea\" class=\"wp-image-40776\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n\n\n\n<h6 class=\"wp-block-heading\">Neem-Coated Urea<\/h6>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Neem coated urea is created by utilising two best things available.
