{"id":96,"date":"2023-10-09T05:28:25","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T23:58:25","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/uncategorized\/sakhalin-1-project\/"},"modified":"2023-10-09T06:29:11","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T00:59:11","slug":"sakhalin-1-project","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/upsc\/sakhalin-1-project\/","title":{"rendered":"Sakhalin-1 Project"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote context is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<p class=\"wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Context:&nbsp;<\/strong>Recently, India\u2019s state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp said oil output from the Sakhalin-1 project in Russia is raise to its plateau level of about 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) from zero.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n\n<h2 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Sakhalin \u2013 1 Project<\/strong><\/h2>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Sakhalin-1 oil and gas development project <\/strong>is located in the&nbsp;<strong>Okhotsk Sea<\/strong>, off the northeastern coast of Sakhalin Island in the <strong>Russian Far East.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It comprises three offshore fields namely <strong>Chayvo, Odoptu, and Arkutun-Dagi.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>All the three fields under the Sakhalin-1 project are located in the <strong>Okhotsk Sea, off the northeastern coast of Sakhalin Island.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The total project area is estimated to be approximately 1,140km<sup>2<\/sup>.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Sakhalin-1 was a technically challenging project to develop due to the harsh arctic climatic conditions in the Northern Sakhalin region.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Exxon Neftegas (ENL), a subsidiary of Exxon Mobil, which holds a 30% participating interest, operates the Sakhalin-1 project.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The other partners of the project are the Japanese consortium Sakhalin Oil and Gas Development Company (SODECO, 30%), India\u2019s state-owned ONGC Videsh (20%), and Russian oil company Rosneft (20%).<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/Sakhalin-Oil-Field-.jpeg\" alt=\"Sakhalin Oil Field\" class=\"wp-image-39305\" style=\"width:751px;height:581px\" width=\"751\" height=\"581\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2023\/06\/SAKHALIN-1.png\" alt=\"Sakhalin 1\" class=\"wp-image-39306\" style=\"width:767px;height:430px\" width=\"767\" height=\"430\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<blockquote class=\"wp-block-quote is-layout-flow wp-block-quote-is-layout-flow\">\n<h3 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>ONGC Videsh Limited<\/strong><\/h3>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>ONGC Videsh Limited<\/strong> is a <strong>Miniratna Schedule \u201cA\u201d Central Public Sector Enterprise (CPSE)<\/strong>&nbsp;of the Government of India and is the <strong>wholly owned subsidiary and overseas arm of Oil and Natural Gas Corporation Limited (ONGC).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>ONGC Videsh Limited<\/strong> comes under the administrative control of the&nbsp;<strong>Ministry of Petroleum and Natural Gas.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The primary business of ONGC Videsh is to prospect for oil and gas acreages outside India, including exploration, development and production of oil and gas.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONGC Videsh is the&nbsp;<strong>second largest petroleum company of India<\/strong>, next only to its parent ONGC. <\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONGC Videsh produced about 27.3% of oil and 19.4% of oil and natural gas of India\u2019s domestic production in 2021-22.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>ONGC Videsh owns Participating Interests in 32 oil and gas assets in 15 countries.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n<\/blockquote>\n\n\n<style>.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-96_f8097e-53 .kt-block-spacer{height:50px;}.wp-block-kadence-spacer.kt-block-spacer-96_f8097e-53 .kt-divider{border-top-width:2px;border-top-color:var(--global-palette2, #2B6CB0);width:100%;border-top-style:solid;}<\/style>\n<div class=\"wp-block-kadence-spacer aligncenter kt-block-spacer-96_f8097e-53\"><div class=\"kt-block-spacer kt-block-spacer-halign-center\"><hr class=\"kt-divider\"\/><\/div><\/div>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>Context:&nbsp;Recently, India\u2019s state-run Oil and Natural Gas Corp said oil output from the Sakhalin-1 project in Russia is raise to its plateau level of about 200,000 barrels per day (bpd) from zero.
