{"id":55,"date":"2023-10-09T05:27:58","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T23:57:58","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/uncategorized\/hasdeo-aranya-region\/"},"modified":"2023-10-09T06:37:09","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T01:07:09","slug":"hasdeo-aranya-region","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/upsc\/hasdeo-aranya-region\/","title":{"rendered":"Hasdeo Aranya Region"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The <strong>Hasdeo Aranya Region (Aranya means forest) lies in the catchment area of the Hasdeo river in North-Central Chhattisgarh.&nbsp;<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Hasdeo Aranya forests are called the <strong>lungs of Chhattisgarh.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The <strong>Hasdeo River is a tributary of the Mahanadi river<\/strong> which originates in Chhattisgarh and flows through Odisha into the Bay of Bengal.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The Hasdeo forests are also the catchment area for the Hasdeo Bango Dam built across the Hasdeo river which irrigates six lakh acres of land, crucial to a State with paddy as its main crop.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hasdeo Arand, a sprawling forest in the northern part of Chhattisgarh is <strong>known for its biodiversity and its coal deposits.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Besides, the forests are ecologically sensitive due to the rich biodiversity they offer and due to the presence of a large migratory corridor for elephants.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full\"><img decoding=\"async\" src=\"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/wp-content\/uploads\/2022\/08\/hasdeo-region.jpg\" alt=\"Hasdeo Aranya Region\" class=\"wp-image-23079\" title=\"\"><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<h4 class=\"wp-block-heading\"><strong>Hasdeo River<\/strong><\/h4>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>Hasdo River rises at a height of 915 meter at a place&nbsp;<strong>near to Sonhat<\/strong>&nbsp;in the <strong>Sarguja district of Chhattisgarh.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;The Hasdo river covers a length of nearly&nbsp;<strong>333 km<\/strong>&nbsp;to <strong>merge into the Mahanadi river<\/strong> on its left near to the&nbsp; village Mahuadih.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>&nbsp;The&nbsp;<strong>total drainage area<\/strong>&nbsp;of the Hasdo river is 9,856 sq. km, which is about 6.96% of the Mahanadi basin area.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>The principal sub tributary of the Hasdo River is&nbsp;&nbsp;<strong>Gej River.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>Hasdo River merge into the Mahanadi River in Chandarpur in Chattisgarh,&nbsp;
