{"id":51,"date":"2023-10-09T05:27:55","date_gmt":"2023-10-08T23:57:55","guid":{"rendered":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/uncategorized\/samudrayaan-mission-deep-ocean-mission\/"},"modified":"2023-10-09T06:37:35","modified_gmt":"2023-10-09T01:07:35","slug":"samudrayaan-mission-deep-ocean-mission","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/lotusarise.com\/news\/upsc\/samudrayaan-mission-deep-ocean-mission\/","title":{"rendered":"Samudrayaan Mission (Deep Ocean mission)"},"content":{"rendered":"\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li>The Samudrayaan mission is <strong><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-2-color\">India&#8217;s first manned ocean mission<\/mark>, with the goal of sending men deep into the ocean in a submersible vehicle for deep-ocean exploration and rare mineral mining.<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><mark style=\"background-color:rgba(0, 0, 0, 0)\" class=\"has-inline-color has-theme-palette-3-color\">It is a <strong>part of the Rs 6000-crores Deep Ocean Mission.<\/strong><\/mark><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>It will send them in a&nbsp;<strong>manned submersible vehicle called MATSYA 6000<\/strong>&nbsp;for deep underwater studies.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><mark class=\"kt-highlight\">Constructed by<\/mark>:<\/strong>&nbsp;the <strong>National Institute of Ocean Technology (NIOT) and the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES).<\/strong><\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong><mark class=\"kt-highlight\">Timeline<\/mark><\/strong>: <strong>5 years<\/strong> for the period 2020-2021 to 2025-2026.<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li>India joined the<strong>&nbsp;elite group of countries<\/strong>&nbsp;that have specialist technology and vehicles to conduct subsea missions, including the United States, Russia, France, Japan, and China.<\/li>\n<\/ul>\n\n\n\n<p class=\"has-kb-palette-6-color has-text-color wp-block-paragraph\"><strong>Significance<\/strong><\/p>\n\n\n\n<ul class=\"wp-block-list\">\n<li><strong>Deep-ocean exploration for resources:<\/strong>&nbsp;MATSYA 6000 will help the Ministry of Earth Sciences (MoES) conduct deep-ocean exploration for resources such as gas hydrates, and polymetallic manganese nodules, hydro-thermal sulphides, and cobalt crusts, which are found at depths of 1000 to 5500 metres.&nbsp;<\/li>\n\n\n\n<li><strong>High Endurance:<\/strong>&nbsp;The submersible was designed with 12-hour operational endurance and emergency endurance systems that can last up to 96 hours.
